In Belarus will place the complex S-400
It is planned to include the S-400 anti-aircraft missile systems into the composition of the combat forces of the unified regional air defense system of Belarus and Russia. On this, as reported by ITAR-TASS, said April 8, the commander of the Air Force and the air defense forces of the Armed Forces of Belarus, Major-General Igor Azarenok. Minsk expects that the newest Russian complexes will be based in Belarus.
According to Azarenok, the heads of the two states instructed to work out the issue of the supply of these complexes even during the signing of the agreement on the creation of a unified regional air defense system of Russia and Belarus. Recall that the parties concluded this agreement in February 2009 in the Kremlin following a meeting of the Supreme State Council of the Union State in the presence of both presidents.
The final composition of the unified regional air defense system, according to Azarenka, will be determined by the military departments of the two countries within three months after the agreement enters into force. However, in May, the bilateral treaty still has to be ratified in the parliaments of Belarus and Russia. The position of commander, as the general stressed, is planned to be made non-staff, although the final decision on this matter has not yet been made.
Today, Igor Azarenok announced his intention to purchase new combat aircraft in Russia as part of the renewal of the aviation fleet of the Armed Forces of Belarus. These plans will be implemented in parallel with the modernization of existing equipment. At the same time, he did not report on which particular aircraft they are talking about.
Recall that in 2006, before the signing of the agreement on a single air defense, Moscow donated to Minsk the S-300 air defense missile system, which entered service with military units in the Brest and Grodno areas. The Belarusian side hopes that the agreement will reduce the cost of maintaining its own air defense assets, increase the efficiency of repair and maintenance work, as well as provide weapons and military equipment with spare parts "at prices that are adequate with the Russian Federation."
